So I was checking box office mojo... and Cameron`s Avatar not only made 2.4 billion dollars worldwide till today (and that`s not DVD sells yet!), it has set the new all time record that was so far held by Titanic. What is amazing that it`s Cameron`s old record.
This suggests that visual quality of a movie is the biggest force today that makes people go and see it. I`m not saying the story is no good, but there is hundred movies per year with better story that make few percent of this one on the revenues.
The experience that for 90 minutes takes you into another world seems to be one of the biggest atractions, and that things like 3D that give it a boost also pay off.
